Robert “Dale” Walker, 79, Troutville died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Feb. 21, 1935, he was the son of the late John H. and Elizabeth (Stuller) Walker.
On Oct. 6, 1979, he married Gwendolyn Ruth (Mack) Walker. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served on the USS Severin and the USS Briarius.
Mr. Walker was a retired union mason. He was a member of the Chestnut Grove Independent Church in Punxsutawney.
He enjoyed fishing and golfing. He loved bowling and was a member of the Friday Sportsman League for many years. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
He is survived by eight children, Robert D. Walker Jr. of Canyon Lake, Texas; David A. Walker, Stephen E. Lee and John M. Walker, all of Troutville; Connie A. Walker of Reynoldsville; Jeffrey S. Lee of Sykesville; Krista A. Verne of Brockway; and Vicki L. McGowan of DuBois; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his foster brother, Carl Walker.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Chestnut Grove Independent Church with Pastor Joseph Spack officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the church.
Burial will follow in Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.
