USA squanders early lead in 2-2 draw against Mexico

Glendale, AZ, United States (4E Sports) – The USA blew a two-goal lead in the first half of their exhibition match against Mexico that resulted in a 2-2 draw Wednesday at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

Michael Bradley scored the USA’s opener in the 15th minute off a corner.

Just 13 minutes later, Bradley headed a Tony Beltran cross towards Chris Wondolowski who scored for a 2-0 USA advantage in the first half.

Mexico came storming back in the second with goals from veteran captain Rafa Marquez in the 49th minute and Alan Pulido in the 67th minute.

Eddie Johnson scored what appeared to be the match winner for the USA in the 85th minute, but the play was ruled offside.

Julian Green was later brought down on the edge of the box but no call was made.

Mexico led in shots, 13-9, and shots on goal, 6-3.
