New York, NY, United States (4E) – Actor James Franco has allegedly attempted to hook up with a 17-year-old girl through Instagram on Wednesday, but got declined.
Franco, upon meeting the girl, Lucy Clode, who took an Instagram video of him outside his Broadway play “Of Mice and Men” on Monday, told her, “You gotta tag me.”
Clode, a Scottish teenager, who was in New York with her mother for a vacation, granted his request and the two started communicating.
In a series of screenshots, which have since been deleted, but still seen on Gawker, their conversation revolved around Franco asking for her number and wanting to see her, and Clode hesitating and asking for proof that the actor is not a fake, which he proved.
Towards the end of their chat, the young lady replied, “I’ll come back when I’m 18,” to which the “Oz the Great and Powerful” actor commented, “If you don’t want to meet, then text me when you do.”
While Clode, who is a student at the Dollar Academy in Scotland, may be under 18, the age of consent in New York is 17.
On Thursday, as a reply to a user’s comment, Franco posted on Twitter, “I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, various netizens believe that the matter is nothing but a ploy to promote Franco’s upcoming film “Palo Alto” where he plays a high school soccer coach who seduces one of his teen players, played by Emma Roberts. The film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 24, and its trailer has been released earlier this week.
