Scott Kazmir strikes out five as A’s blast Indians

Oakland, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Scott Kazmir struck out five and allowed just three hits and no walks in 7 1/3 scoreless innings, to lead the Oakland Athletics over the Cleveland Indians, 6-1 Wednesday at Coliseum.

Kazmir allowed a pair of fly balls to the warning track in the first inning.

But after that he allowed only singles to Michael Brantley in the second and Jason Kipnis in the fourth, and a double to Mike Aviles with one out in the eighth.

A Yoenis Cespedes RBI in the first gave the A’s a 1-0 lead.

The A’s scored twice in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead as Coco Crisp hit sacrifice fly to right that allowed Callaspo to score and Corey Kluber allowed an RBI single to Jed Lowrie.

Alberto Callaspo hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give the A’s a 5-0 lead.

A Brandon Moss RBI that plated Lowrie made it 6-0 for the A’s.

Dan Otero gave up a two-out RBI single in the ninth to Carlos Santana that ended the shutout.
