Beijing, China (4E) – Chinese Actor Wen Zhang has admitted cheating on his wife Mai Yili with one of his co-stars, and has used social media to issue his public apology.

On Monday, Zhang, 29, posted about his affair with “Naked Marriage” co-star Yao Di, and admitted to his shortcoming to his 52.4 million fans on Weibo, Twitter’s counterpart in China.

His post, as translated by The Hollywood Reporter, reads, “I have brought this upon myself. A mistake is a mistake. This has nothing to do with anyone else. Today, I am willing to accept all the consequences. I’ve let down Ma Yili and our children. My mistake does not deserve to be forgiven, and it will be difficult for me to make amends for all the harm I’ve caused. But I want to do it. I have to do it. This is what I’ll do for the rest of my life.”

The “Badges of Fury” actor’s public apology, which has gathered over 2.5 million comments and over a million “re-tweets” in less than a day, comes after photos of him and Yao Di having an intimate date surfaced on the Internet, sparking rumors. His post is said to have broken the microblogging site’s records.

Meanwhile, Zhang’s wife of six years Ma Yili, one of China’s popular television and movie stars, has chosen to post a brief statement on her Weibo account on Monday that reads, “Being in love is easy, being married is not. It is to be cherished.” She is currently pregnant with their second child.
