Denver, CO, United States (4E Sports) – Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene suffered a knee injury that will sideline him for four weeks, causing him to miss the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Duchene is the leading scorer this season for the Avalanche, recording 23 goals and 70 points in 71 games. The Avalanche returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2010 with a 3-2 win Saturday against the San Jose Sharks.
“The thought of not playing in the first round for me has been devastating. We have outstanding medical and training staff that will be helping me get healthy ASAP,” Duchene said on his Twitter account.
Duchene said he will be “doing everything in my power to be ready for Game 1. And if not then, shortly after.”
Duchene was injured on his first shift against the Sharks when he collided with Avalanche teammate Jamie McGinn.
