Dallas, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Chris Paul had 31 points, nine assists, three steals and four boards as the Los Angeles Clippers squeaked past the Dallas Mavericks, 109-103 Thursday at American Airlines Center.
Blake Griffin had 18 points and 13 rebounds while DeAndre Jordan added 16 points and 15 rebounds for the win.
The game was tied at 29 after one quarter but the Mavs took a 60-58 lead at the half.
The score was again tied at 81 after the third before the Mavs scored the first 10 points of the fourth with Brandan Wright making four points and Jae Crowder hitting a 3-pointer.
The Clippers gradually chipped away at the lead and tied it at 101 after Jamal Crawford’s two free throws and a drive by Griffin.
Dallas then committed a backcourt violation and Griffin used the possession to score and give the Clippers the lead for good with 12 seconds remaining.
Vince Carter scored 23 points off the bench for the Mavericks, going 4 for 5 on 3-pointers, to lead the Mavs. Dirk Nowitzki had 21 points and Samuel Dalembert had 11 rebounds in the losing effort.
