Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Robin Roberts will be the first ever celebrity guest judge on “Dancing With the Stars” and on Tuesday, the GMA host admitted she is both nervous and excited for her new role.
Shortly after announcing her new task on Good Morning America, Roberts tweeted, “Very excited/nervous about being a guest judge next week on #DWTS. If you have any tips..let me know. #Yikes!”
During the announcement, Roberts said that though she is nervous, she has to “step out of [her] comfort zone.” She added, “I think I am going to take the perspective of those who normally watch at home.”
The 53-year-old newscaster is only one of the many celebrity guest judges to appear on the DWTS this season, which also includes Julianne Hough, Ricky Martin, and Redfoo of LMFAO.
Having celebrity guest judges is said to be DWTS’ attempt to save declining ratings, partnered with audience participation as additional twist, where viewers can use Twitter to vote to “switch” celebrity and professional pairs.
Roberts will be joining DWTS judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba on March 31.
