Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Singer Rihanna is all set to be honored with the Fashion Icon Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), the organization announced Monday.
“We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” Stephen Kolb, CEO of the CFDA said in a statement.
According to a press release, the Fashion Icon Award is “given to an individual whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage.”
Rihanna joins the ranks of past Fashion Icon Award winners Johnny Depp, Lagy Gaga, Iman, Nicole Kidman Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker, and C. Z. Guest.
The 26-year-old “Unapologetic” singer will be lauded for her bold and forward fashion style at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards on June 2 at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.
