Jarrett Jack scores 31 as Cavs halt Knicks’ win streak

New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Jarrett Jack had 31 points and 10 assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat the New York Knicks, 106-100 Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

Dion Waiters scored 22 points and Luol Deng had 13 for the Cavs in snapping the Knicks eight-game winning streak.

Carmelo Anthony scored 14 as the Knicks took a 34-27 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Knicks’ lead expanded to 51-34 as the Cavs relied solely on Alonzo Gee’s seven points for almost eight minutes of the second.

With the Knicks opening the third quarter with a 61-46 lead, Luol Deng hit a 3-pointer to ignite a 9-0 Cavs run that cut the deficit to 61-55.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Anthony gave the Knicks a 73-63 lead midway in the third.

A Jack jumper cut the lead to 84-77 before the fourth.

The Cavs used an 11-4 spurt to tie it at 90 on Jack’s jumper with 7:29 remaining.

Deng’s 3-pointer put the Cavs ahead at 93-92 with 5:46 to play.

The Cavs then further outscored the Knicks 7-2 to sore ahead at 100-94 with 2:37 remaining.

But the Knicks weren’t finished and closed in at 102-100 following a J.R. Smith jumper and free throws by Anthony.

Then Jack connected from 10 feet and Matthew Dellavedova sinked both free throws to finish of the Knicks, who saw their eight game win streak snapped.

Anthony had 32 points and eight rebounds to lead the Knicks.
