Curtis Glencross’ hat trick leads Flames in blazing Oilers

Edmonton, AB, Canada (4E Sports) – Curtis Glencross had a hat trick as the Calgary Flames cruised past the Edmonton Oilers, 8-1 Saturday at Rexall Place.

Matt Stajan, Mike Cammalleri, Mark Giordano, Paul Byron and Kevin Westgarth also scored for the Flames.

The Oilers took a 1-0 advantage after a goal by Jeff Petry at 4:34 of the first period.

The game was tied less than four minutes later with Giordano’s goal.

The Flames went up 2-1 four minutes into the second period as Cammalleri scored from the corner.

A minute later, Stajan was awarded a penalty shot and beat goalteder Viktor Fasth with a backhand on a 1-on-1 opportunity.

The Flames had their fourth goal courtesy of Byron who scored from the side of the net.

Just 1:18 later, the Glencross tucked a shot over Fasth’s shoulder to give the Flames a 5-1 lead.

Glencross scored again early in the thirrd followed by Westgarth’s goal 37 seconds later.

Calgary made it 8-1 with just under seven minutes to play as Glencross notched his hat trick on a long shot through traffic.
