Villanova tops Milwaukee with second half push

Buffalo, NY, United States (4E Sports) – JayVaughn Pinkston had 13 points, eight boards and three blocks as the Villanova Wildcats ripped the Milwaukee Panthers, 73-53 Thursday at First Niagara Center.

Darrun Hilliard topscored with 16 while James Bell had 12 points and seven boards for the win.

Milwaukee’s Austin Arians hit three 3-pointers in the first half as they led 21-16 with 4:55 left in the period.

Hilliard then exploded with seven points while Bell had a layup and Pinkston scored on a dunk in an 11-2 run as Villanova grabbed a 27-23 lead at halftime.

Pinkston scored five to open the second half for a 32-23 Villanova lead.

Milwaukee managed to trim the lead to four but Villanova poured it on to push the lead back to double-digits.

Leading by 61-51 with 4:36 left, Villanova scored 12 unanswered points with Kris Jenkins hitting a couple of 3-pointers to dispose of Milwaukee.

Arians had 17 points and five boards to lead Milwaukee’s losing effort.
