Orlando, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Adam Scott matched the course record at Bay Hill after firing a 10-under-par 62 in the opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Scott, the Masters champion, made seven birdies at the third, sixth, seventh, 10th, 12th, 14th and 5th holes. He also eagled the fourth and 16th holes but bogeyed the 18th for his only blemish of the round.
According to PGA Tour Media, the last time Scott opened with a 62 was at Bridgestone in 2011 and he won that tournament by four strokes.
Scott joined Andy Bean and Greg Norman as the players who shot 62 at Bay Hill. Bean did it in 1981 while Greg Norman tied the mark in 1984.
With his performance, Scott grabbed a four-shot lead over Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.
