Tallahassee, FL, United States (4E) – Two tickets won the $414 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot and these were sold in Florida and Maryland, lottery officials announced on Wednesday.
The winning numbers drawn on Tuesday night were 11, 19, 24, 33 and 51 with 7 as the Mega Ball. One of the winning tickets was sold at the Sunoco gas station at 600 South Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island, southeast of Orlando. It was the first winning Mega Millions ticket sold in Florida since the state started selling the lottery drawing in 2013.
The other ticket was sold at the Lady’s Liquor store, 6474 Crain Highway, in La Plata, Maryland.
The winners, who have yet to come out, can opt for a lump sum payment of $230.9 million from the third-largest Mega Millions jackpot in history. The Maryland winner has 182 days to claim the prize while the Florida winner has 180 days to do so.
Maryland lottery rules do not require the winner to be identified while Florida rules publicizes the winner’s name and city of residence.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won was $656 million. It was won in March 2012. The second-largest jackpot in the same lottery was $648 million, which was won in December.
