Dayton, OH, United States (4E Sports) – T.J. Warren scored 25 and Ralston Turner added 17 points as the North Carolina State Wolfpack subdued the Xavier Musketeers, 74-59 Tuesday in an NCAA play-in game at University of Dayton Arena.
Kyle Washington and Warren each scored six points as N.C. State established a 22-14 lead.
Semaj Christon answered with two layups for Xavier to ignite an 8-1 run and trim their deficit to lead to 25-22.
Jordan Vandenberg’s three-point play gave N.C. State a 34-28 advantage at halftime.
Xavier closed in at 39-37 following Dee Davis’ 3-pointer and Christon’s fast-break lay-in with 16:03 left in the game.
But Warren hit a pair of pull-up jumpers, followed by a steal and a lay-up as N.C. State rebuilt the lead to 51-42.
Leading by 57-50 with 7:03 remaining, N.C. State had a 12-2 run that buried Xavier, 69-52 with 2:41 remaining.
Matt Stainbrook led Xavier with 19 points and nine rebounds while Semaj Christon added 14 points.
