Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Chris Martin is all set to join this season’s The Voice US as a key adviser, it was announced via Snapchat late Tuesday.

A post on Coldplay’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts confirmed the news with a series of photos showing Martin posing with the Voice judges captioned, “Chris is to work with Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher & Shakira as a Key Adviser on this season’s The Voice on NBC in the US,”

Mark Burnett, executive producer of The Voice US, told USA Today, “He’s such an authentic voice in the industry. We could not be happier. There’s a massive level of respect from the singers and the surprise from them (when they met him): “Whoa! Chris Martin. Wow!’”

As a Key Adviser, the “Magic” singer will mentor the four coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher as their teams enter a second phase of the competition’s Battles Round starting March 31, and will be back again on April 1 and 7.

The new stage replaces the Knockouts round, where the contestants perform a song of their choice as opposed to them performing the same song, which allows for more pressure.

The first battles Round was executed this week, with each of the Voice coaches paired off with lauded musicians who served as guest advisors. Levine was paired off with Aloe Blacc, Shelton with The Band Perry, Shakira with Miranda Lambert, and Usher worked with Jill Scott.

Following the first Battles Round, Martin, who has admitted that he is a fan of reality singing contests, has recorded songs with the “survivors,” as well as given them tips related to their feat.
