Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Actress Kate Winslet has received the 2,520th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday for her achievements in the category of motion pictures.

In a ceremony hosted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and emceed by President and CEO Leron Gubler, Winslet’s name is now engraved in front of the W Hollywood Hotel along Hollywood Boulevard.

Accepting the honor wearing an all black ensemble, Winslet told the crowd, “Thank you very much. I am completely overwhelmed by the number of people that are here today. I honestly had no idea that this was going to be quite such a well-attended event.” Earlier in the day, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake hit Southern California, and the actress said it “frightened me quite a lot actually,” sharing she was getting ready with a breast pump in her hand when it happened.

“It is really wonderful to be here and to be given this award, this accolade, this wonderful moment in my life that I know I will never forget,” she added. “I feel very honored, twenty years into my own career, to be standing in such a poignant place and being celebrated in such a spectacular fashion.”

One of her guest speakers, “Titanic” co-star Kathy Bates, said, “What I really want to say, Kate, after working with you, after knowing, you, you deserve to have stars strewn at your feet. And even though stars on the Hollywood walk of Fame sometimes get a little dirty with a little poo or whatever, what will last is your wonderful beautiful films, the characters that you played that have stolen our hearts, and nobody can ever poo on those.”

“Divergent” co-star Shailene Woodley also took the stage to honor the 38-year-old actress, saying, “I have never met a more empowered, beautiful, humble—almost selfless in a way of really knowing herself so strongly that no matter what comes at her in life she has the tools to be able to combat it with compassion and kindness because she has a strong sense of self.” She added, “I couldn’t be more honored to know you, work with you and learn from you.”

Winslet, since starting her career in 1991, has starred in numerous box office hit films such as “Sense and Sensibility,” “Titanic,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “The Reader,” for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress. She has also won several awards including a BAFTA, Golden Globe and SAG awards.

In 2012, she was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her contribution to drama.
