San Francisco, CA, United States (4E) – Earlier rumors about a new Redmi budget smartphone from Chinese maker Xiaomi was confirmed by the company itself on its website. The successor to the first Redmi now has name: Redmi Note. Chinese consumers will be able to pre-order the smartphone starting on March 19th using Tencent’s Qzone app.
Xiaomi sold an estimated 5,000 units of the first Redmi in eight minutes a few days back in Singapore and the most popular Chinese smartphone maker is expecting the second Redmi will achieve the same success.
According to earlier leaks and rumors, the Redmi Note will have a 5.5-inch screen with 720p resolution, 3G network capabilities, 1GB RAM, and an octo-core processor (1.4 GHZ or 1.7 GHz). Rumors about the second-gen Redmi instantly spread when Xiaomi had a new smartphone approved by the Chinese government network regulator TENAA on its website.
The price of the new Redmi may be somewhere between of $100 to $250.
