Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Gerald Green scored 28 points off the bench while Goran Dragic added 19 points as the Phoenix Suns swept the Toronto Raptors in their season series via a 121-113 win Sunday at Air Canada Centre.
Markieff Morris added 16 points and 14 rebounds off the bench while Phoenix reserves outscored their Toronto counterparts, 59-11, as the Suns improved to 38-28.
“Gerald was back. He had a couple of bad games recently, coinciding with Eric (Bledsoe) coming back and kind of changed his role. When he plays like that, he gets unstoppable,” said Phoenix head coach Jeff Hornacek.
Marcus Morris added 10 points, Eric Bledsoe had 19 on top of 10-for-10 shooting from the foul line and P.J. Tucker had 11 for the Suns.
“Especially now it’s so important for us, this stretch of games, we need everybody, Try to hunt that playoff spot,” Dragic said on the total team effort
The Suns dominated the boards by a margin of 45-26 and outscored the Raptors on second chance opportunities, 21-3.
Kyle Lowry recorded 28 points and a game-high 13 assists, Terrence Ross added 22 and Amir Johnson had 20 points for the Raptors (37-28).
Jonas Valanciunas had a strong first quarter, scoring 13 of the Raptors 35 points, on 6-for-8 shooting but he was held to only one more basket for the rest of the game to finish with 15 points.
Despite a 12-4 rally to bring the game within two points at halftime, the Raptors never were as close and couldn’t match the Suns offense in the second half.
Marcus Morris’ offensive rebound and tip in with 3:34 left in the fourth quarter put the Suns up 116-107.
