Denver, CO, United States (4E Sports) – The Denver Broncos have lured cornerback Aqib Talib from the New England Patriots with a six-year, $57 million deal that includes $26 million guaranteed.
The Patriots were reportedly close to extending Talib before the Broncos swooped in.
The deal is the second largest for a cornerback behind what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave last year to Darrelle Revis.
Talib, 28, earned the first Pro Bowl selection of his six-year career with the Patriots last season.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Talib had four interceptions and 14 pass breakups last season and was often used to match up against an opponent’s top threat.
But injuries have kept Talib out of the last two AFC Championship games.
The Talib deal is the second big move of the Broncos in the first day of free agency, having signed safety T.J. Ward earlier.
