Ohio State tightens late game defense to edge Michigan State

Columbus, OH, United States (4E Sports) – LaQuinton Ross scored 22 to lead the Ohio State Buckeyes offense in edging the No. 22 Michigan State Spartans, 69-67 Sunday at Value City Arena.

But it was Aaron Craft who led Ohio State’s air tight defense down the stretch, as they kept Michigan State scoreless for the final 4:31.

Craft had four steals to give him 328, breaking a tie with Illinois’ Bruce Douglas to become the Big Ten’s career leader.

Michigan State led 38-36 at halftime after a tighly contested first half that featured several lead changes.

Gary Davis hit two 3-pointers to ignite 12-0 Michigan State blast to get a 51-44 advantage.

Midway in the second half, Ohio State managed to score seven straight points to cut thier deficiency to 53-52.

Michigan State (23-8, 12-6) had the ball with the game tied at 67, but Ohio State tightened its defense to keep Michigan State from scoring in the last 4:31 of the game.

A Ross jumper and free throws by Williams and Craft clinched the win for Ohio State.

Adreian Payne finished with 23 points to lead Michigan State.
