Gainesville, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Florida kept its place as the nation’s No. 1 team in the USA Today Coaches final regular-season poll.

This marked the first time that the Gators will enter postseason ranked No. 1 in school history. This is also the first time the Gators have been No. 1 at the end of the regular season.

The Gators closed out the regular season with a victory over Kentucky Saturday, becoming the first SEC team to finish the season 18-0 in conference play. Florida is currently on a 23-game winning streak.

The Gators will open SEC tournament play Friday, at 1 p.m., against the winner of Thursday’s Missouri-Texas A&M game.

According to Gators coach Billy Donovan, they will use the tournament bye to work on getting better and regroup.

“I think this time of year, as a coach between the strength coach and trainer, you’re always evaluating where your team is at physically,” Donovan said. “There’s a fine line between your team looking tired and it not being physical fatigue, but it being mental fatigue.”
