New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Coaching great Phil Jackson is reportedly leaning towards accepting the post of president of basketball operations with the New York Knicks.
CBS Sports noted that Jackson’s role would be to have final say on basketball decisions, with Allan Houston and current general manager Steve Mills taking care of day-to-day duties.
It is unclear whether the decision would include an agreement to coach the Knicks next season.
According to the New York Daily News, Knicks general manager Steve Mills offered the team’s head coaching position to the ex-Bulls and Lakers mentor which Jackson turned down.
Owner James Dolan then approached Jackson with the front office offer.
A decision is expected sometime next week.
