Iowa survives late rally to edge Ohio State women

Indianapolis, IN, United States (4E Sports) – Theairra Taylor scored 21 to lead the fifth-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes past the eighth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes, 77-73 Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Bethany Doolittle and Ally Disterhoft each had 18 points and Melissa Dixon added 16 for the semifinals win of the Big Ten tournament.

Iowa (26-7) never trailed and led by as much as 10 points.

But Darryce Moore scored eight unanswered points for Iowa to tie the game at 73 with 2:02 left.

Taylor made layup with 1:32 left to restore Iowa’s lead.

Ameryst Alston missed a layup on Ohio State’s ensuing possession and Martina Ellerbe also missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer for Ohio State (17-18)

Dixon sunk two free throws to seal the win for Iowa.

Alston led Ohio State with 20 points while Ellerbe and Moore each added 15.
