Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Days after the highly-watched 86th Annual Academy Awards was held, Liza Minnelli has expressed her thoughts regarding the joke that host Ellen DeGeneres played on her, suggesting she was a drag queen.

“I think she thought it would be funny, but she never stopped but she never stopped after she said it and said, ‘my friend, Liza Minnelli,’” the “Cabaret” star told TMZ in a video published Tuesday.

During DeGeneres’ introductory monologue at the Oscars last Sunday, the two-time host told the audience, “[I've spotted] one of the most amazing Liza Minnelli impersonators I have ever seen in my entire life,” following it with “Good job, sir!”

The joke garnered some chuckles from the audience but with only a shrug and sneer from Minnelli herself. The multi-awarded performer continued, “I think it went a little astray. I don’t think she meant any harm at all. She’s a wonderful lady and I think she did great.”

Asked if she was disappointed about not being able to make it in the “best photo ever,” the 67-year-old star said, “Oh no, it was funny because I stood up and [...] all the men just pushed [me] out of the way. It made me laugh so hard.”

As Minnelli walked towards Craig’s restaurant in Hollywood with a companion, the cameraman asked if she ate any of the pizza that was distributed during the event, to which she curtly replied, “No,” and added under her breath, “I’m on a diet.”
