Miami, FL, United States (4E Sports) – The Miami Dolphins announced that they have re-signed Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes to a four-year contract extension reportedly worth $32 million, including $16 million in guaranteed money.
The Dolphins completed the contract with Grimes prior to Monday’s 4 p.m. ET franchise tag deadline.
“I wanted to be back,” said Grimes. “But you never know in this business, and when it all worked out, I was happy.”
Grimes faced an uncertain future with the Atlanta Falcons after suffering a Achilles in 2012 but later signed a one-year contract with Miami the following year.
Grimes had the best season of his career in 2013 as he tied for the team lead with four interceptions and was responsible most weeks for defending the opposing team’s best receiver.
“If we just make a few more game-changing plays and fix the little things, that will give us the opportunity to win more games and go deeper into the playoffs,” said Grimes, who also received his second Pro Bowl nod.
