Memphis, TN, United States (4E Sports) – Zach Randolph had 23 points and 14 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 110-96 Saturday at FedEx Forum.
Mike Conley and Marc Gasol scored 22 each for the Grizzlies while Courtney Lee finished with 19 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, and Tony Allen had 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
The Cavs led by 47-32 before taking a 65-54 lead into the break.
Down by 67-54 early in the third, the Grizzlies outscored the Cavs, 23-5, with Randolph pouring in 12 points, to take a 80-73 lead.
Tristan Thompson answered for the Cavs with back-to-back baskets to cut the lead to 80-77, but the Grizzlies finished the quarter with a 7-1 burst.
The Grizzlies kept the Cavs at bay in the first seven minutes of the fourth, maintaining leads of four to eight points.
Then Kyrie Irving scored six straight points to pull the Cavs within 95-94 with 4:03 left.
But the Cavs efforts were put to waste as Conley scored five points in a 9-0 Grizzlies run that expanded the latter’s lead to 104-94.
Irving led the Cavaliers with 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting, while Thompson was 8 of 10 for 18 points.
Spencer Hawes had 13 points and Luol Deng 11.
