Wizards need three overtimes to outlast Raptors

Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Marcin Gortat and John Wall each scored 31 as the Washington Wizards outlasted the Toronto Raptors, 134-129 in three overtimes Thursday at Air Canada Centre.

Trevor Ariza, Chris Singleton, Bradley Beal and Garrett Temple all scored in double figures for the win.

The game had 19 ties and 15 lead changes.

The Wizards had the biggest lead at 77-65 midway through the third following a layup by Gortat.

But the Raptors immediately fired back with an 11-0 run to cut the lead to one point with 1:15 left in the quarter.

The Wizards pushed their advantage to 83-78 at the end of the third.

They successfully maintained their bulge for most of the fourth until the Raptors tied the game with less than two minutes left after a 3-pointer by Patrick Patterson.

A Greivis Vasquez layup gave the Raptors a 106-104 lead before Gortat tied the game with five seconds left to send the game to overtime.

The Raptors led 127-124 with 1:45 left in the third overtime but the Wizards netted seven unanswered points to build a 133-129 lead with a minute left.

DeMar DeRozan missed a 3-pointer with 24 seconds left as the Wizards claimed the win.

The Raptors were led DeRozan’s 34 points. Kyle Lowry added 18 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds while Greivis Vasquez scored 26.
