Gainesville, FL, United States (4E Sports) – The Florida State Seminoles and Florida Gators have extended their annual series expiring in 2014 through the 2018 season.
According to Florida, the 2015 and 2017 games will be played in Gainesville, while the 2016 and 2018 matchups will be contested in Tallahassee.
With speculations of ACC planning to expand its conference schedule to nine games, there were talks that Florida State might need to cut its series against a nonconference rival.
But FSU athletic director Stan Wilcox announced in a Feb. 18 interview that their rivalries outside ACC will continue.
The two schools have played every year since 1958 and have grown their rivalry into one of the fiercest in college football. From 1990-2000 both schools were ranked in the AP Top 10 when they played each other.
Florida leads the overall series 34-22-2 but the Seminoles have won three of the last four matchups.
