Peoria, IL, United States (4E Sports) – Ron Baker made three of seven 3-pointers to score 15 and lead the Wichita State Shockers past the Bradley Braves, 69-49, Tuesday at Carver Arena to become the first team to go 30-0 in the regular season.
Tekele Cotton added 13 points, and Cleanthony Early scored 12 for Wichita State (30-0, 17-0), who connected in 10 of 21 three-pointers, including six of nine in the second half.
Bradley ( 12-18 and 7-10), led by Tyshon Pickett’s 10 points and Walt Lemon Jr.’s nine in the first half, were just behind by 35-25 at half time because of 11 offensive rebounds and 10 second-chance points.
But Wichita State made four of five three-pointers in the first 5 minutes of the second half and went up 50-32.
Bradley missed seven of their first 10 shots in the second half, but Unlike the first half, they didn’t get second chances as their offensive rebounding were shut off by Wichita State.
Chadrack Lufile’s layup gave Wichita State its biggest lead at 62-42 with 6:57 left in the game.
Lemon scored the game’s next seven points and cut Wichita State’s lead to 62-49.
Darius Carter dunked and Cotton banked in a jumper for a 66-49 lead.
Walt Lemon Jr. with 18 points, as Tyshon Pickett added 13 points for Bradley who made 16 of 59 for the game for 27.1 percent.
The second-ranked Wichita State is now one of 12 schools to reach 30-0, joining four UCLA teams, 1976 Indiana, 1957 North Carolina and 1979 Indiana State.
Wichita State plays Missouri State on Saturday at Koch Arena in an attempt to become the first team since Saint Joseph’s in 2004 to finish the regular season unbeaten.
