Paris, France (4E) – Confidence among businesses in France was steady this month, keeping the same level posted in the last two months, according to an index from statistics bureau Insee released on Tuesday.

The gauge of French business confidence stood at 100, the long-term average for the measure and matches estimates of economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires.

Insee’s monthly survey also showed that entrepreneurs in industry are showing more confidence about recent production levels in February, though their order books dropped slightly and their production outlook in the sector moderately weakened.

Insee’s wider index of business confidence, which includes areas for construction, wholesale, services and retail, remained stable at 94 this month.
