Indianapolis, IN, United States (4E Sports) – The San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh refuted reports that he was subject of trade talks that would have sent him to the Cleveland Browns for multiple draft picks.
According to profootballtalk.nbcsports.com, a deal was in place but the coach decided not to leave San Francisco.
Niners CEO Jed York tweeted the NFL Network and Pro Football Talk that the report isn’t true.
Harbaugh told ESPN’s Ed Werder that he echoes York’s comment and that he knew nothing about the trade talks.
The Browns eventually hired Mike Pettine was eventually hired, but then-Browns CEO Joe Banner acknowledged there was one last “mystery candidate” who’d been under consideration.
Harbaugh has coached the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game three years in a row, and to the Super Bowl once.
