Glendale, AZ, United States (4E Sports) – The U.S. soccer team plans to utilize its international friendly against Mexico on April 2 as a bench mark to determine the final roster for the World Cup.
The match is slated at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
“We are going to be watching our players very carefully before making final decisions on the roster for the World Cup, so this will be a great benchmark to see where they are at and how they compete against our biggest rivals,” said U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
The last time the USA faced Mexico, the Americans came out on top 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier at Columbus Crew Stadium. The result allowed Jurgen Klinsmann’s side to clinch a berth in the 2014 World Cup.
The two border rivals have already faced each other at the University of Phoenix Stadium on Feb. 7, 2007, with the US coming on top, 2-0, before 62,462 fans.
