Jazz cools Heat behind Marvin Williams’ 23 points

Salt Lake City, UT, United States (4E Sports) – Marvin Williams scored 23, including back-to-back 3-pointers late in the game, to ignite a Utah victory over the Miami Heat, 94-89, at EnergySolutions Arena.

Hayward had nine points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, while often guarding Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Richard Jefferson had 14 points, Trey Burke scored 13 and Alec Burks added 12 points for the Jazz.

The Jazz had 11 assists and shot 62 percent in the opening period to take a 32-18 lead.

The Heat had their final lead in the opening moments of the third quarter at 54-52 after a LeBron James field goal, but Utah controlled the game the rest of the way.

Chris Andersen’s free throw had the Heat closing in at 77-73 with 6:50 left, but Williams buried them with back-to-back 3-pointers to push the Jazz lead to 87-79.

The Heat used a 10-4 run to draw within two points after Ray Allen made a 3 from the corner with 46 seconds to play.

But Trey Burke drained a 19-foot jumper to beat the shot clock, and Gordon Hayward’s free throw clinched the win for the Jazz.

Dwyane Wade had 19 points for the Heat.
