Minneapolis, MN, United States (4E Sports) – Nashville Predators general manager David Poile was hospitalized Thursday after being struck in the face with a wayward puck.
Poile, who is also the GM of the United States men’s Olympic hockey team to Sochi, was standing in the tunnel near the ice during the Predators’ morning skate in Minnesota when the accident transpired.
The puck immediately caused a black eye, bloody nose and grogginess, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
“He will remain in the hospital overnight for observation and evaluation, and further information will be released as it becomes available,” the Predators said in a release.
It is yet uncertain whether the incident would affect Poile’s travel plans to Sochi.
