Rotterdam, Netherlands (4E Sports) – The ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam lost some of its luster following the withdrawal of its top seed, Stanislas Wawrinka, due to a leg injury.

Wawrinka, the Australian Open champion and world no. 3, is one of seven top 12 players originally slated to take part.

But Tournament Director Richard Krajicek still guarantees an exciting week of tennis with six players out of the top 12 left.

Wawrinka, who played for Switzerland in the Davis Cup just a few days after winning his first grand slam, will be replaced by 43rd ranked Denis Istomin in the draw.

“Unfortunately I am not able to play in the next tournaments in Montpellier and Rotterdam,” said Wawrinka. “I was looking forward to playing in Rotterdam but I am not fit enough to get a good result.”
