Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The Los Angeles Lakers announced that forward Pau Gasol will be sidelined for at least two weeks due to a strained right groin.

Gasol, who received a PRP injection to his strained right groin Monday, was originally expected to miss one week after aggravating his groin in the Lakers’ 110-100 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats.

However, he failed to fully recover from the injury, forcing the Lakers to rest him until he’s fully healed. He will be re-evaluated sometime during All-Star weekend.

Gasol did not accompany the Lakers on their three-game road trip through Minnesota, Cleveland and Philadelphia. He will now miss an additional three games at least — at home against Chicago, Utah and Oklahoma City.

The 13-year veteran averaged 20.8 points and 11.9 rebounds in January but the Lakers went just 3-12 during that stretch.

The Lakers and Phoenix Suns are currently entrenched in trade talks involving Gasol but it was stalled after the latter expressed concern with the player’s health.

After welcoming Steve Blake and Steve Nash back to the lineup Tuesday, the Lakers suffered another injury when Jodie Meeks suffered a sprained right ankle.

X-rays on Meeks’ ankle after the game were negative, however he is being ruled out for the final two games of the Lakers’ road trip.
