Winnipeg, MB, Canada (4E Sports) – Devin Setoguchi scored twice Friday, including the winning goal, to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks at MTS Centre.
Zach Bogosian and Michael Frolik also scored for the Jets as captain Andrew Ladd picked up two assists, and Ondrej Pavelec made 23 saves.
The Jets drew first blood when Bogosian scored from the point at 5:02, slamming one past backup Eddie Lack’s glove.
Setoguchi backhanded one in from the side of the net just over a minute later to make it 2-0.
Canucks’ Alexander Edler slipped a rebound from the side of the net on a power play at 10:27 to cut the lead.
Then Ryan Kesler backhanded a puck Pavelec at 4:48 to tie the game.
Frolik put the Jets back in the lead when he snapped in Andrew Ladd’s behind the net pass at 6:41.
The Canucks tied it up again in the third when Jason Garrison blasted one from the point.
But Setoguchi’s second goal of the game at 17:04 put the Jets back in the lead.
The Canucks took a high-sticking penalty at the same time to keep them from getting much of a chance at another comeback.
It was the Canucks’ third loss in a row as they struggle to hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
Eddie Lack made 30 saves and Daniel Sedin picked up an assist for the Canucks.
