Madison, WI, United States (4E Sports) – Aaron Craft scored all seven of his points in the final 4 minutes and LaQuinton Ross added 13 for the Ohio State Buckeyes as they escaped the Wisconsin Badgers 59-58 Saturday at Kohl Center.
Ohio State (17-5, 4-5) nearly let it slip away.
But Wisconsin (17-5, 4-5), which had plenty of other chances to win, went just 5 of 10 from the foul line late, and went without a field goal in the final 6-plus minutes.
Craft didn’t hit his first basket until 3:57 left, but it was a 3-pointer that helped his team finish on an 11-4 run.
Ohio State took the lead for good when Amir Williams went 1 of 2 from the line with 54 seconds left for a 58-57 lead.
On the final play, the Badgers tried to set up Traevon Jackson but Ohio State was prepared for the plan, and Wisconsin settled for a second option in Sam Dekker who missed the 3 at the buzzer.
It was Wisconsin’s fifth loss in six games after a school-record 16-0 start.
Freshman Nigel Hayes had 17 points off the bench, while Ben Brust added 13 points and seven rebounds for Wisconsin.
