Austin, TX, United States (4E Sports) – The City of Austin will honor former Texas coach Mack Brown and his wife Thursday in recognition of his service to the university.
Austin mayor Lee Leffingwell announced he will issue a proclamation making Thursday “Mack and Sally Brown Day” in the state capital.
“Mayor. Thanks for honoring Sally & me tomorrow. We look forward to it. We are lucky to live in Austin. What a great city,” Brown said on his Twitter account Wednesday.
A ceremony will be held around 5:30 p.m. at City Hall that will include presentations from the state senate and the UT student-body president. The student government passed a resolution this week to recognize Brown’s service to the university.
Brown resigned in December after 16 seasons with a record of 158-48, leaving him as the second-winningest coach in school history. He was replaced by Louisville’s Charlie Strong.
