Boston, MA, United States (4E Sports) – Florida Panthers goalie Tim Thomas was called for high sticking Boston Bruins’ Carl Soderberg in the head at the end of the latter’s 6-2 win Tuesday night.

The hit was a retaliation after Soderberg inadvertently hit Thomas while going for a rebound.

Thomas complained that Soderberg was still crashing the net in a game that was already decided.

“With less than a minute left in the game and they’re up by four goals,” Thomas said. “I took exception to that.”

Soderberg said he was just going for a rebound of the puck.

“We can’t stop playing just because there’s three seconds left,” Soderberg said. “I tried to score the whole way.”

Bruins coach Claude Julien said that Soderberg does that even in practice.

“That’s just his way,” Julien quipped. “You tell your players to play to the final whistle, and that’s what he does.”
