Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – The Oscars will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the much-loved film “The Wizard of Oz,” the producers announced Tuesday.

In a statement, Neil Meron and Graig Zadan said, “We are delighted to celebrate the birthday of one of the most beloved movies of all time at this year’s Oscars.’

Starring Judy Garland as Dorothy and Frank Morgan as Professor Marvel, “The Wizard of Oz,” directed by Victor Fleming, received six nominations in the 1939 Academy Awards including original music score (by composer Herbert Stothart) and song (for “Over the Rainbow” by Harold Arlen), which it won.

The 86th Annual Academy Awards, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will be held on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and will be televised live on ABC.
