Atlanta, GA, United States (4E) – Home Depot Inc. announced that it has acquired online retailer Blinds.com, the latest takeover completed by the home-improvement retailer in recent years.

Since early 2012, the company has now bought at least four companies after several years of avoiding takeover moves. Other recent deals made by the Home Depot include the acquisitions of home services specialist Redbeacon and kitchen and storage supplier U.S. Home Systems Inc.

The latest acquisition, in which the terms of the deal were not yet disclosed, means Home Depot is buying the largest online window coverings retailer.

Blinds.com’s management team and staff will probably remain intact at its Houston headquarters, according to Home Depot.

Home Depot and Lowe’s Cos. are two of the bright spots in the retail sector as the housing rebound continues to benefit both companies. Higher home prices and increased activity in home construction and new home sales have resulted to more spending among homeowners for purchase of big-ticket items and remodeling projects.

Home Depot, which often releases muted forecasts despite having good sales growth and earnings, made a slightly cautious earnings outlook in December for the new fiscal year.
