East Lansing, MI, United States (4E Sports) – Michigan State starting forward Branden Dawson will undergo surgery to his broken right hand Thursday and will be out for four to five weeks.

The loss of Dawson compounded Michigan State’s woes as injured starting big man Adreian Payne is doubtful to play in Saturday’s first-place matchup against Michigan.

Dawson suffered the injury when he slammed his hand on a table in frustration while watching a film session Thursday morning.

The 6-foot-6 junior is averaging 10.2 points and 8.7 rebounds this season for the No. 3 Spartans (18-1, 7-0 Big Ten).
