Vancouver, BC, Canada (4E Sports) – Chris Higgins scored in the fifth round of the shootout to lift the Vancouver Canucks over the Calgary Flames 3-2 Saturday at Rogers Arena.
Mark Giordano got by Roberto Luongo at 1:37 of the second to give the Flames a 1-0 lead.
Ryan Kesler got one back at 3:50 to tie the game, redirecting a nice pass from Zack Kassian for a point.
Matt Stajan chipped a backhand up and over Luongo at 4:01 of the third period to give the Flames a 2-1 lead.
Yanick Weber ripped past Ramo to tie the score.
Higgins beat Flames goalie Karri Ramo through the five-hole to help the Canucks snap a three-game losing streak.
Both Lungo and Ramo made 31 saves each, though the match was marred by a brawl just seconds into the opening period.
