Durham, NC, United States (4E Sports) – Tricia Liston recorded a double-double with a game-high 21 points and a career-high tying 12 rebounds to lead No. 3 Duke to a 90-55 win over Virginia Thursday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Liston made eight of 12 attempts, four from beyond the arc, and issued three assists as the Blue Devils improved to 17-1 on the season and 4-0 in ACC play.
Elizabeth Williams added 16 points on 8-for-15 shooting, Richa Jackson had 16, Oderah Chidom tallied 11 and Alexis Jones contributed 10 markers for the Blue Devils, who won their 41st straight home contest against an ACC opponent.
The Blue Devils outrebounded the Cavaliers, 50-36, and had more assists (21-8), steals (13-9) and blocks (13-2). Duke also asserted its might in the shaded lane, scoring 52 points in the paint against 16 by the Cavaliers.
“That was a great team, aggressive effort. Everybody contributed, everybody attacked. We tried to keep pace. We’re trying to push the tempo a little bit foul line to foul line,” said coach Joanne McCallie, who improved her personal record against the Cavaliers to 8-0.
Lexie Gerson and Faith Randolph scored 13 points each while Saram Imovbioh had nine points and 12 boards for the Cavaliers, who slipped to 8-9 (1-3 ACC).
Williams scored 11 points and Jackson added 10 in the first half as Duke raced to a 47-23 lead at the break.
In the second half, Liston poured 14 of his total output as the Blue Devils padded their lead to 39 with 8:21 remaining in the game.
