San Francisco, CA, United States (4E) – Hewlett-Packard has returned to the mobile device market with its recent unveiling of two new mobile devices for India. It unveiled the 6-inch diagonal HP Slate6 VoiceTab and the 7-inch diagonal HP Slate7 VoiceTa. Both are phablets, which means they can take calls, surf the net, handle gaming, and multi-task.

“Consumers are looking to consolidate their phones and tablets, which is propelling the voice tablet market. This is an exciting new category that represents a meaningful growth opportunity for HP. Our HP Slate VoiceTab provides consumers with a high-quality product at a great value,” said Ron Coughlin, HP senior vice president for Consumer Personal Systems Group.

HP hasn’t released a consumer device since 2011. It chose India because the competition isn’t as strong compared to markets in the United States, Europe, and China.

Also, big screen mobile devices like phablets are popular in most parts in Asia. Consumers in those areas like bringing an all-in-one powered device to keep them busy during long commutes.

Both the HP Slate7 VoiceTa and HP Slate6 VoiceTab will be available next month in India.
