NM middle school shooting injures 2 students, suspect arrested

Roswell, NM, United States (4E) – A shooting at a Roswell middle school Tuesday morning injured two students and police arrested the suspected shooter.

The shooting at Berrendo Middle School located at 800 Marion Richards Road occurred around 8:11 a.m. prompting the New Mexico State Police to lock down the school. Roswell police said the shooter was arrested and students were bused to the Roswell mall, where parents were able to pick them up.

Among the injured was a 14-year-old boy, who was airlifted to the University Hospital in Lubbock, Texas for treatment. His condition is unknown. The Eastern New Mexico Medical Center said two students were being treated.

The state police is providing details about the incident in a 1 p.m. press conference.
