Denver, CO, United States (4E Sports) – Peyton Manning made two touchdown tosses Sunday as the Denver Broncos topped the San Diego Chargers 24-17 at Sports Authority Field.
Manning’s short passes to Demaryius Thomas and Wes Walker for touchdowns gave the Broncos a 14-0 lead by early second quarter.
A Matt Prater field goal gave the Broncos (14-3) a 17-0 lead in the third.
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers hit Keenan Allen for 16 yards that cut the lead to 17-7.
But Knowshon Moreno’s 3-yard touchdown run put the Broncos (10-8) ahead 24-7 with 8:12 left.
Another Rivers-to-Allen pass for 16 yards resulted in another touchdown that pulled the Chargers within24-14 with 5:43 left.
A field goal by Chargers’ Nick Novak made it 24-17 but their efforts fell short.
The win allowed the Broncos to advance to the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots (13-4) on Sunday.
