Obituary Notice: John F. “Jack” Bojalad

John F. “Jack” Bojalad, 73, of DuBois died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born June 10, 1940, he was the son of the late John J. and Mary M. (Casper) Bojalad.

On July 9, 1966, he married Bernadette “Bonnie” (Bogacki) Bojalad.  She preceded him in death on May 7, 1992.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War.

He retired after more than 36 years of service as the human resource officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 2.

He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years and had served on parish council.  He was a member of the George D. Montgomery Post 17 American Legion and a past president and member of the DuBois Area High School Alumni Association, as well as the Penn State DuBois Campus Alumni Association. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Penn State fan.

He is survived by his children, Paul Bojalad and his companion, Barbara Collar of Clearfield, Gary Bojalad and his wife, Virginia and Joan Klark and her husband, Theodore, both of DuBois, and William Bojalad and his wife, Julia of North Huntingdon; two sisters, Patricia Lawson and Mrs. Russ (Christine) Carlson, both of DuBois; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michelle Bojalad and Abigail Klark.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Bojalad.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A military ritual will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard
